A Paste Magazine, revista digital norte-americana com mais de 20 anos de história, publicou uma lista com os 300 melhores discos de todos os tempos e ela trouxe algumas surpresas, incluindo dois discos brasileiros em excelentes posições.

“Clube da Esquina”, lançado por Milton Nascimento e Lô Borges em 1972, ficou em nono lugar e “Acabou Chorare”, dos Novos Baianos, no 51°. Ambos foram lançados em 1972.

“Clube da Esquina” aparece na frente de vários monolitos da música moderna, incluindo “Pet Sounds”, dos Beach Boys, o “Disco da Banana”, do The Velvet Underground e “Sgt. Peppers”, dos Beatles.

Para a revista, a música brasileira teve um ano muito especial em 1972. “Entre ‘Clube da Esquina’ e ‘Acabou Chorare’, é difícil imaginar uma combinação de lançamentos mais enigmáticos da história musical de um país.” O texto continua: “Clube da Esquina” se inspira tanto nos Beatles quanto em Chopin – o que faz dele um dos projetos sul-americanos mais ricos já criados.”

Novos Baianos

Sobre “Acabou o Chorare”, o jornalista Matt Mitchell fala que do ponto de vista instrumental, o LP é impressionante e que liricamente, ele é esperançoso em um momento em que não deveria ser”, lembrando que o trabalho foi feito no auge do regime militar.

Stevie Wonder

O número 1 da Paste é um álbum que sempre aparece bem colocado em listas deste tipo, mas nunca no topo: “Songs In The Key Of Life”, a obra-prima de Stevie Wonder, de 1976 (“é provável que nenhum disco seja feito novamente que sequer passe pela órbita deste.”).

O top 10 tem ainda outras surpresas, como “Disintegration”, do The Cure (1989), em segundo lugar e “Long Season” (1996), da banda japonesa Fishmans, em sexto.

“Here’s Little Richard“, de 1957, e único representante da primeira geração do rock and roll, é o disco mais antigo do top 300 e “Blue Rev”, da banda indie Alvvays, o mais recente.
